Our church Kids Club has been online now since March 2020, and while there have been advantages in children from other congregations being able to join in on Zoom, it’s always so much better to get together in person. Although we have decided to temporarily continue Kids Club online, we did want to try and schedule some meet up times for the children so that we wouldn’t completely lose that in person aspect. So on Saturday the 16th October we planned a Kids Club Fun Day from 10.30am-12.30pm.
It was great that 11 children were able to come including our friends from the North Edinburgh and Stornoway congregations. We began with introducing everyone – some of the children had only ever seen each other on screens. We played a wide variety of games finishing off with one that hopefully reinforced our current memory verse that we are learning. We then had a time of singing Psalms and Psalm portions. One of the parents commented on how nice it was to hear them all singing together after only hearing themselves sing on Zoom (because particpants are all muted during singing).
After the songs we had a craft time where we painted suncatchers, and then we had our McDonalds Happy Meal lunch, followed by dipping apple slices in caramel or white chocolate. The children had a fantastic time, and one wee boy said to his gran on the way home that “we were only there two minutes”.
Please continue to pray for this group of children that they would put their trust in the Lord and grow in that trust.
